You know how everyone nowadays says they would like to run away for a while, hide in some kind of Earth’s undiscovered gem and forget about the problems of contemporary world? Well, I think we all do. And this time I decided to truly think about it and propose that one special place where it would be best to hide. That’s how I discovered the Islands of Andaman and Nicobar.

These two island groups are part of India and despite being mostly unknown internationally their authorities are well aware that it is tourism that could drag attention to this marvelous place on Earth. Consequently, it’s not strange that you can find very interesting Andaman & Nicobar tour packages these days and one would not make a mistake checking these out more closely. And once you see pictures of its crystal clear water and white sandy beaches, you will be asking yourself only one question – how can I get there as soon as possible?

It is very difficult to point out the best things to see in this small part of India but I will try my best to reveal at least several “must see” places. First of all there is the famous Radhanagar beach, named Asia’s best beach by TIME magazine in 2004. Radhanagar connects 12 kilometers of coast with peaceful and divine blue water, offering activities such as fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling or boating. And yes, elephant rides as well! Limestone Caves are one more thing that makes Andaman tourism package deals skyrocket – located at the Baratang Island, these caves are breathtaking in their simple natural beauty. And you can also take a speed boat journey through it and watch all those stalactites and stalagmites that look like they are out of this world.

If you want to take a closer look at India’s struggle for independence, you can visit The Cellular Jail, also known as Kala Pani. It used to be a colonial prison used by the British especially to exile political prisoners to the remote archipelago. The building had seven wings and the tower at the center which served as the intersection and was used by guards to keep watch on the inmates. Fortunately, this complex today serves only as a national memorial monument. Marina Park and Aquarium, located at Port Blair, is genuine attraction for all visitors. It is situated in the unspoiled seashore and enables tourists enjoy generous local vegetation and incredible sea waves. Aquarium is famous for is marine life including diverse sorts of sea fish and turtles.

If you are into more exciting adventure, then you should go to The Ross Island. Can you guess how it got its name? Yeah, you are right – it comes from the british who  inhabited the territory. But be not afraid, this place is really colorful and charming despite of its infamous trademark animal.

I’ve come to the point at which words are simply insufficient to describe the beauties of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Yes, one can write dozens of pages trying to do that properly but all in all – nothing is as good as going there to see it yourself.
